Moisture off the Gulf and a cold front from the west both collided over Houston today and it caused SNOW!! For nearly 8 hours it snowed! Unfortunately, the ground was too warm for the snow to stick, so I'd say, out of the whole 8 hours, we got half an inch at best. But it really snowed! My mom said it looked like a snow globe outside; there were just so many flakes!
Claire and Matthew were at school when it started, but Stella was home with me. As I gathered her hat and coat and shoes, she followed me around the house saying, "-noe? -noe?" Once outside she seemed curious, but mostly nervous and unsure of it all!
At school the kids got to have a "snow drill" (like a fire drill) where all the classes got to go out and catch snow flakes on their tongues! I was surprised they didn't cancel school today.
We went to school to get the older kids, and by the time Chess Club was through, the parking lot was white! There were so many flakes falling! Matthew loved eating the icy snow, and Claire liked making snow balls. Stella would walk through the snow and get a mound of ice on the toes of her shoes, then walk to the parking lot and brush them off, then do it all over again. I couldn't decide if she liked this, or if the snow on her shoes was really bothering her. My guess is that it was bothering her; this is Stella and her shoes we are talking about here!
When Dad got home from work, we started a fire in the fire place. What a great day!
