AIRPLANES

Fire trucks are out and airplanes are in-- at least, according to Matthew! So we did some homework and discovered Houston's Air Terminal Museum! Housed in the super-cool, original, art-deco air terminal at Hobby Airport, the museum was Houston's first airport! It's the coolest! Inside, there are all sorts of airline-related artifacts. Out back, you can watch planes take off and land on Hobby Airport's runways. It's a gem!

Once a month, the museum holds an open house, where you can see real airplanes up close! Private planes fly in and land on the old runway, then taxi right up to the museum's back fence! They open the gate, and you can go right over and meet the pilots, see the planes, and feel really important! At the open house we attended, the Girl Scouts had put together a program, too. We had lunch and listened to three pilots talk about their flying pasts! It was very interesting. I love this place!

Private airplanes displayed at the back of the way-cool art deco Air Terminal Museum!

These people were so nice! She let the kids climb inside their airplane!! They had flown in from Ft. Worth for the event.

Theirs was a 6 seater airplane. I think we need one...
